9:45-11:00 am: Session 1: New rules, new standards: focus on refrigeration !

Identify new regulations and standards at national and international levels. Analyse their impacts on technical and human resources.

Propose ideas concerning improvements for all cold-chain stakeholders.

  • Update on WHO health-product management
  • Training in the cold chain domain: new context, new stakes
  • Current draft French, European and international standards
  • The cold chain and future European Good Distribution Practice (GDP)

11:30 am-12:15 pm : Session 2: The last kilometer : almost at the destination but some issues remain

Present methodological and practical tools at the disposal of pharmacists who are in contact with patients: identification of deficiencies in the field, presentation of existing means, prospects for optimization and practical cases.

  • Presentation of the work of the sub-commission: self-evaluation questionnaire concerning management of the cold chain in retail pharmacy, for pharmacists
  • Hospital centers: optimize preservation and heat-sensitive processes using simple measures
  • Lessons learnt in the field and prospects for qualification: self-assessment and temperature in premises used to store pharmaceuticals

11 am – 11:30 am : Break

12:15 pm-1:00 pm : Session 3 :

Risk control in distribution circuits

Propose a risk-analysis process along with solutions in order to guarantee the quality of heat-sensitive products throughout the distribution chain

  • Implementation of risk analysis in the distribution field
  • Management of shipments of heat-sensitive products: impact of the load test selected
  • Transport solutions for hospital centers: current status
  • Wholesale distribution within the French Army Health Service

1:00 pm-2:30 pm : Lunch at the conference venue

2:30 pm- 4 pm : Session 4 : Correct temperature measurement: the method matters

Define the principles and methods in order to control temperature measurement.

  • Criteria governing the suitability of measuring instruments used to measure the temperature of heat-sensitive products
  • Time-temperature integrators: from standardization to application in the management of the dedicated blood transfusion cold chain
  • Stability study and risk management in the cold chain
  • The principle of simplified mapping of a thermostatic chamber
  • Why should relative humidity control be applied to storage premises and how can it be achieved?

4:00 pm – 4:30 pm : Break

4:30 pm- 6 pm : Session 5 : Round table –

Challenges inherent in the cold chain in pharmacy :      ways of succeeding

How can the quality and integrity of heat-sensitive products be ensured?

  • Practical cases and challenges inherent in the cold chain in pharmacy

8:00 PM: Gala dinner at Christian Têtedoie’s gourmet restaurant
